Keokuk County VINE Coverage
IowaVINE is a free statewide service that tells Iowans when an offender's custody status changes. It runs all day and night. You can register by phone, online, or through email. Alerts cover a range of events: custody, release, transfer, escape, and even death. The Attorney General presents it as a safety and notification tool for victims. It is not a full arrest archive for any county.
Keokuk County Jail sits inside that statewide network. Still, nobody promises that a new booking appears in the system the second intake starts. For a fresh Keokuk County arrest, the sheriff's current roster is the smarter first stop. VINE shines once you already know who was arrested and want word of a release or transfer.
The official IowaVINE overview lays out the jail and prison coverage in plain terms.
For notification mechanics, IowaVINE speaks with state authority. The Keokuk County sheriff answers for immediate jail custody.
Run a Keokuk VINE Arrest Check
Enter just enough personal detail to separate likely matches. The public interface supports a name search and may offer an offender ID or case-number route when that identifier is known.
- Open VINELink state selection and choose Iowa.
- Select the custody search and enter the person’s first and last name, or a known identifier.
- Use partial-name options carefully when spelling is uncertain. Broader searches can produce several people.
- Compare facility, custody status, identifier, and other displayed details before treating a result as the intended person.
- Open the eligible record to review status or begin notification registration.
The VINELink Iowa selection screen is the official online entry point.
Search privately. There is no need to expose another person's data in a screenshot or saved public list.
VINE Arrest Result Fields
Display varies by agency and record. IowaVINE serves custody status and events best, not the full content of a Keokuk County booking record.
| Possible result item | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Name | Compare spelling with other identifiers; a name by itself is not identity proof. |
| Offender or record ID | Use a known identifier to narrow repeat searches when available. |
| Custody status | Shows the status reported to VINE, subject to agency transmission and processing time. |
| Facility or agency | Helps distinguish county jail custody from Iowa DOC custody or supervision. |
| Custody event | May support notice of release, transfer, escape, or another covered change. |
| Registration control | Starts notification setup for an eligible record. |
VINE does not replace the court docket. Iowa Courts Online carries later complaints, orders, judgments, dismissals, and other case details.
Register Keokuk Custody Alerts
Registration is separate from simply finding a record. Choose the event and contact method. Telephone registration uses a four-digit personal identification number, or PIN, to confirm receipt and stop repeat calls.
- Open the correct person’s eligible VINELink record and select “Register for Notifications.”
- Choose the offered event types, such as release or transfer, rather than assuming every event is automatically selected.
- Enter the available phone or email destination and complete the required confirmation.
- For telephone alerts, create a PIN that the intended recipient can remember but others cannot easily guess.
- Keep the registration details and update them if the phone number or email address changes.
The VINELink registration view appears after an eligible Iowa record is selected.
The registration screen appears without names or booking photographs.
VINE Arrest Check Limits
VINELink is not a universal locator. IowaVINE lists no federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE coverage. Federal cases call for that agency's own locator. North English deserves care too. Most of the city sits in Iowa County and uses contract law enforcement there. A person can be booked before VINE receives the event or released before a later search. A move to another facility can hide them too. For a fresh booking, try Keokuk County's same-day roster route. You can also call the sheriff at 641-622-2727. The broader Keokuk County arrest overview explains released records and court follow-up.
Iowa DOC VINE Registration
The Iowa Department of Corrections runs a separate victim-registration process involving IDOC and the Board of Parole. County VINE notification is not the same enrollment. Treat them as two programs. Formal registration differs from a simple lookup. The county attorney serves as the official registrar for the DOC program. The Iowa DOC VINE page describes the split between custody lookup and formal victim registration. The distinction matters when a county case leads to state custody or supervision later.
Note: One Iowa registration may not enroll a person in every other notification system or cover later court events.
Call IowaVINE for Custody Alerts
Online access is not the only IowaVINE channel. The statewide phone line is 1-888-742-8463, also written 1-888-7-IAVINE. The Attorney General says a live operator answers. The service stays free and anonymous. Phone access helps when the web interface is down or a caller needs help finding the right registration path.
For automated phone notices, the four-digit PIN matters more than a login detail would. Iowa materials say calls repeat until the correct PIN is entered, or for up to 24 hours. A voicemail may get a short message first. Keep the PIN private. Make sure the chosen phone can receive alerts, and update the registration after any number change.
Custody Alerts Versus Court Records
A VINE alert and a court record answer two different questions. VINE tracks custody. It tells you about release, transfer, escape, or a move into state custody, where the person is held, in other words. The court docket is something else entirely. Complaints, bond orders, dismissals, pleas, judgments, and acquittals all live there. Iowa Code §915.16 sets the notification framework for bail release and terms, final local release, escape, and transfer, but it does not turn VINELink into a case docket. For the filed case, check Iowa Courts Online. For document access, go through the Keokuk County Clerk. Keep an alert registration active when custody changes matter to you.
Timing is another split. The Keokuk County roster advertises updates after 3:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. VINE waits on a covered agency to send a custody event. Neither one promises that a new intake, release, or transfer shows up instantly. Note the time you checked, allow for the next stated county refresh, or simply call the holding office when you need an answer now.
A missing VINELink result can mean several things. Spelling. An alias. A data-entry delay. It could also reflect a release, a transfer, or a custody system outside IowaVINE, and none of that rules out an arrest. North English shows why this trips people up: most of the city sits in Iowa County, so the Iowa County Sheriff and jail may hold the record even when the search started in Keokuk County.
